South Media Fire Company Hosts Open House on Saturday, May 17

This free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to explore the firehouse, meet volunteer firefighters, try on firefighting gear and witness exciting live demonstrations, including the Jaws of Life and CPR/AED exercises. The event is designed to be both fun and educational, with plenty of hands-on activities for all ages.

Kids will have the opportunity to test their aim with a fire hose, while parents can learn more about how they can get involved in supporting their community. Complimentary burgers and ice cream will be served throughout the event, and a supervised kids’ table will allow parents to connect with current volunteers and explore membership opportunities.

“Whether someone is interested in firefighting or helping with events and outreach, we’re always seeking new members,” said Fire Chief Max Hopkins. “No prior experience is needed to join South Media Fire Company, and we provide all the training and gear necessary.”
